The Baby-sitter - R.L. Stine
R.L. Stine rocked my whole childhood, I loved reading it and reading it again countless times.
I love the rhythm of the book, which is usual in all of R.L. Stine's books.
The false surprises allow us to never foresee the long-awaited moment of the book !
R.L. Stine is a master of suspense and it's a pleasure to read from him.
I really like the end, I found it quite unpredictable and pretty clever as an ending.
I like the fact that all the characters looks nice and that nobody acts badly.
The boy in love with the main character looks super shady and it is difficult to guess his goals. The "bad guy" is therefore hard to spot but it's quite obvious if you read in between the lines.
So, it's in a spooky and soft atmosphere that the scene takes place and the fright begins.
Great book for children!!
Boule de suif - Maupassant
Unfortunately I don't have much to say about Maupassant his writings astounded me and left me completely stunned...
What a horror. This book is an indescribable emotional hurricane. I loved reading all the short stories, Maupassant's slimy black writing is one of my favourites and he is definitely the master of the short story! All his endings are remarkable, predictable or not they are all poignant.
Mercure - Amélie Nothomb
I genuinely think this is one of the best she's written! It's the first time I didn't foresee something happening in a novel, it's great, super surprising! Amélie Nothomb is very persuasive, sagacious and passionate. This book is so precious, wonderful!
I loved all of its references and the the captain's (awful) debates with the nurse... I love this book. I love it so much, I read it very often and I never get tired of it!!
Matilda - Roald Dahl
Matilda is for sure the book I liked the most as a child. Roald Dahl's books are very simple, pleasant and funny to read. I think that if you want to introduce children to reading, you should start with Roald Dahl. Matilda, is not an original story but it's still enjoyable to read.
The ending was quite unexpected. When I first read it, I was so happy about the adoption.
